Lemosho Route is among the lovely path preferred by many climbers hiking Kilimanjaro Mountain. Many people like it due to its amazing views, less crowded and having high chances of reaching at the top; it is located in the western side of the Mountain starting from Londorossi gate passing through the rain forest across the Shira plateau joining the Machame route near the Lava tower up to Mweka camp.
Day 1: Londorossi gate to Mti mkubwa

Our professional driver will pick you up from your hotel/ lodge and drive you to Londorossi gate for the registration and joining with the all the mountain crew such as cook and porters. After that the driver will continue driving you up to Lemosho trail head where the trekking begins. Later on you will have dinner and overnight at Mti Mkubwa campsite
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa up to Shira 1 camp
Highlights
Trekking will continue from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 camp for about 5-6 hours a distance of 8 kilometers. You will trek through the rain forest up to a savannah tall grass, heather and volcanic rock crossing through the several streams towards Shira ridge up to Shira 1 camp for the overnight.
Day 3: Shira 1 camp up to Moir Hut
Highlights
You will have full day trekking from Shira 1 camp up to Moir Hut covering a distance of 11 kilometers passing through the moorland meadows in the East while exploring the Shira plateau one of the highest plateau in the world. Our professional guide will take you through several trails in order to help you in acclimatization.
Day 4: Moir Hut through Lover tower up to Burranco camp
Highlights
You will wake up early in the morning, and then begin trekking from the Moir hut climbing up a ridge heading to the southeast up to Lava tower, a rock formation which is 300ft high. On this day you will have two trekking; the first trek starts from Moir hut to the Lava tower about 4 to 7 hours covering the distance of about 7 kilometers and the second trek continues from the Lava tower up to Burranco camp which takes 2-3 hours covering a distance of about 3 kilometers passing through the Alpine desert.
Day 5: Burranco camp to Karanga camp
Highlights
Trekking begins early in the morning after breakfast and it is a shorter trek that involves climbing through steep slopes. The trekking will pass through the Alpine desert about 4 to 5 hours covering a distance of about 5 kilometers in the great Burranco wall crossing through a series of hills and valleys until you descend into the sharp Karanga valley. Dinner and the overnight will be at Karanga camp.
Day 6: Karanga camp up to Barafu camp
Highlights
The trekking will take four to five hours covering the distance of about 4 kilometers. You will begin walking from Karanga camp in the morning and later on will join the mweka trail towards the rocky Barafu hut. Also you will have a chance of the magnificent view of the great peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. On this day you need enough sleep and relaxation to prepare for the long trek in the next day.
Day 7: Barafu camp to Uhuru peak; from the peak to Mweka camp
Highlights
Today’s trekking is longer and a bit challenging because it includes the summit and then back to the campsite for dinner and overnight, so you need to remain calm and follow your guide’s instructions thoroughly in order to make it. Make sure you carry your trekking poles to support your knees during hiking and descending through the rocky landscapes. You will begin trekking from Barafu camp up to Uhuru peak approximately 7 to 8 hours about 5 kilometers and then you will descend to Mweka campsite.
Remember, the summit will begin in the midnight and so it will be cold at that time therefore, you need to have warm clothes and use them whenever needed. In addition, this journey will have shorter breaks until you reach at Uhuru peak for the sunrise pictures and breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro Mountain the roof of Africa. On your way back, you will have a short break at Barafu camp for lunch and then continue descending to Mweka campsite for dinner and the overnight.
Day 8: Mweka camp to Mweka gate
Highlights
On this day you will descend from Mweka campsite to Mweka gate approximately 3 up to 4 hours covering a distance of about 10 kilometers. Please remember to carry your rain coats all the time because the weather of the mountain is unpredictable. Anyways, after arriving at the Mweka gate you will be awarded the certificates of merits to show that you are a hero in climbing the highest mountain in Africa. Moreover, you will be accompanied by wonderful dances from the tour guides, cook and porters and other crew members. After all that you will have time to say goodbye to your tour guide, cook and porters without forgetting providing their TIPS. Finally, our professional driver will take you to your hotel via Mweka village.
